Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of organizational commitment as a mediating variable in the effect of financial compensation on turnover intention among contract employees at PT. Ennovi Precision Machining Services Batam. This research is motivated by the complex dynamics among contract employees, who tend to experience job uncertainty. Therefore, it is important for companies to find effective strategies to retain contract employees, one of which is through increasing compensation and organizational commitment. This quantitative study used a census method on all 60 contract employees of PT. Ennovi. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the analysis show that financial compensation has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment and a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Meanwhile, organizational commitment also has a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Mediation tests confirmed that organizational commitment can mediated the relationship between financial compensation and turnover intention. The implication of this study is that financial compensation has a dominant and direct role in suppressing the intention to change jobs.
