Abstract

The development of technology has triggering the appearance of digitalization trend in a business activity. One form of business digitalization that is booming nowadays is e-commerce. The existence of e-commerce has changing the humans’ habit in buying and selling transactions. There are lots of advantages and conveniences that can be felt when people do the buying and selling in the online transactions. The use of e-commerce leads the consumers become more interested in doing the transaction using e-commerce rather than doing the transaction manually. This research purposed to acknowledge the security risk, convenience risk, and product risk that affect the intention to transact online using e-commerce. This research was done using non-probability sampling, which was a sampling technique that did not provide the equal opportunities or the equal opportunities for each member of the population were selected as a sample. This research used a purposive or judgemental sampling in taking the sample. A purposive or judgemental sampling could be understood as a sampling technique based on a certain selection or certain criteria determined by the author who could be the respondent. The data was collected using a questionnaire. Based on the research conducted, the following results showed that the security (X1) influenced positively and significantly toward the intention of online transaction. The convenience risk (X2) did not influence significantly toward the intention of online transaction. The product risk (X3) did not influence significantly toward the intention of online transaction. The value of Adjusted R Square was 0,165 (16,5%), it showed that the capability variables of security risk, convenience risk, and product risk in explaining the big variety of the intention to do the online transaction as many as 16,5%, the remaining variety was 83,5% that was explained by the other factors that did not included in this research. This research determined the impact of several risks on the direct online transaction behaviour so that the further research still needed to be studied more with the help of meditating and moderating variables.
