Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the work environment on job satisfaction through work motivation as an intervening variable in the sales employees department at PT. Tunasjaya Mekararmada. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 80 respondents. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression method. Before the regression was carried out, the instruments were tested, namely validity and reliability tests, data normality tests, and classical assumption tests which included multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests. Hypothesis testing is done by t test and Sobel test. The results showed that there was a positive effect of the work environment on work motivation, as well as a positive influence of the work environment on job satisfaction. Work motivation also has a positive influence on job satisfaction. Work motivation is able to mediate the effect of work environment variables on job satisfaction variables. The value of the coefficient of determination of the results of this study was 0.376 indicating that the work environment and work motivation variables contributed 37.6% to the job satisfaction variable. The rest is explained by other variables not included in this study.
